Calling all CHA WINE LOVERS, AFFICINADIOS, WINECURIOUS AND OENOPHILES

It’s the first CHA Clubhouse Wine Tasting/Competition, Sat. Oct 21st at 5:00!

This will be a “blind” (bagged) tasting to explore your favorites and least favorites without knowing price, varietal, origin or vintage.

You will score the wines on a 10 point scale of color, nose, flavor and overall impression.

Wine tasting food (bread, cheese, fruit) will be provided by CHA!  The price of the wines will likely be between $13.00 to $19.00 per person; tasting 8 wines. Cash or check paid at the event; checks made out to Melanie Rogers. You may sign up at the chili cook off on Oct 7th, the CHA meeting on Oct. 14th, the Facebook page (“attending”… please, not “interested”), or by email to Melanie Rogers. Don’t bring anything but your nose and tastebuds!

Got a great recipe for chili? Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 7, starting at 2:00 pm, at the Clubhouse, for the official CHA Chili Cookoff.

Bring your favorite chili to compete, or simply come to taste all the different varieties. Bring a side dish and your preferred beverage. All members and guests are welcome.

Thank you to Denise Stratton for organizing this event!

Property fraud is a growing white-collar crime where thieves record documents against your property in an effort to establish ownership for financial gain. To protect yourself, sign up for Leelanau County’s Property Fraud Protection program. Once you’ve signed up, Fraud Notify sends you an automated email alert any time a document is recorded at the county office using your name. You then decide if the recording is legitimate or fraudulent and take the necessary actions.

To sign up, visit Leelanau.gov and click the Property Fraud link under Quick Links.

ALL CHERRY HOME RESIDENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE EDWIN ARNFIELD MEMORIAL

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at 11am, with a time of gathering from 10am until 11am, at St, Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 701 N. Warren St., Northport, MI 49670.

Ed was a beloved member of the Cherry Home community for over 40 years with his wife Connie. Please come celebrate his life with his family this Saturday.

The Far North Trail boardwalk has some significant issues — it’s leaning and dangerous to walk on, and has been closed by the CHA Board until repairs can be made. And that’s where you can help! Please join us on Saturday, July 15, at 10:00 am, at the Far North trailhead, to help fix the boardwalk. We need as many volunteers as we can get as this is a big project.

Bring gloves, and boots or waders, and plan on getting wet. Also, if you have a decent chainsaw, please bring it: we need a few members to help cut the logs used to stabilize the footings.
