The CHA Annual Meeting will be held Saturday May 23rd at 10:00 am at the clubhouse and via ZOOM. 

As a reminder. ballots need to be received no later than 10:00am Saturday morning. There is no voting via zoom, so if you can’t attend in person please designate a proxy. We must have 20% of all members represented either in person or via proxy. Ballots can be turned in the morning of the meeting by 10:00am.

Dues invoices have been sent out and are flowing back in steadily. Thank you to those who have already paid! You can bring your checkbook to the meeting and pay there, if you would like. 

Reminder: Jann Parsons is collecting donations  from those who would like to contribute to the summer “Music in the Park” series in Northport. She tells us contributions are a little slower this year. Jann will be accepting donations at the meeting, or via Venmo, or at her home or via mail. SO CATCH UP WITH JANN AT THE MEETING!

Last year our CHA memberships’ individual donations totaled almost $2800. Well done neighbors! Let’s do it again!

For those of you who may be new to the area, Northport has an outdoor concert series at the Marina Park every Friday night, from June 26 to August 28 this year. All are welcome to come and bring a picnic while you sit outside and enjoy the music, the view, and the friendliness of our community. The concerts are free to attend, but obviously there are costs involved to bring in these musicians.

Even though collections are taken at the concert, a very small amount of what is needed is collected in this manner. Sponsorships from individuals and organizations are needed to cover the costs of the bands, as well as administration, marketing, and sound production.

That’s where you come in. Last year there was a neighborhood challenge that raised over $7000 from 6 neighborhoods. Cherry Homes won that challenge and we were thanked at every concert. Let’s do it again this year! Jann Parsons is now accepting donations for the 2026 summer concerts. Jann will pool our donations (any amount is appreciated) and turn them over to Terry Fera from the Northport Performing Arts Center from now through Memorial Day Weekend.You may contribute in the following ways: 

• Send Jann a check made out to Music in the Park (13750 N. Forest Beach Shores, Northport, MI 49670 )
• Drop off a cash contribution at her house
• Send using Venmo Jann-Parsons or 231-357-3905 (not Pay Pal)
• Bring a contribution to our Annual Meeting at the clubhouse (May 23rd rain date May 24th)

All contributions are tax deductible because Music in the Park is a 501(c) (3). You will receive a receipt for your contribution. Additionally, my accountant recently shared with me that in 2026, you need not itemize to deduct your charitable contributions ($1000 single, $2000 filing jointly). 

For those interested in running for a position on the Cherry Home Shores Board of Directors, the Candidate Profile Form is available under the CHA Owners section of the website. Candidate profiles must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT, on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Board members serve three year terms.

The CHA Board of Directors and Road Committee are continuing to work to find a solution to our roads problem. We would like to encourage the residents to get involved in this process by participating both in the monthly Leelanau Township Board meetings and in the Leelanau County Road Commission meetings.

The Township Board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and you can attend via Zoom. Click here for details.

The Road Commission meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 1:oo pm through April 1. (After April 1, meetings move to 9:00 am.) There doesn’t seem to be a Zoom link for remote attendance but details on their meeting agendas and minutes are available by clicking here.
